Two (2) scholarships of $15,000 for District Guidance Officers, Head Teachers Student Welfare, teachers, school counsellors and Health, Physical Education and Personal Development teachers teaching students at risk of youth depression in schools and TAFE NSW Institutes.
All teachers, Head Teachers-Student Welfare and school counsellors currently teaching students at risk of Youth Depression within Schools and TAFE NSW Institutes are eligible to apply. Applications should focus on preventing depression in young people or building awareness of youth depression. Applications should incorporate a Black Dog Institute (BDI) course into their proposal as well as strategies for dealing with, or referring on young people who may be suffering from depression.
It is anticipated that successful applicants would spend up to five weeks involved in a study program either in Australia or overseas. Eligible teachers from government schools and TAFE NSW Institutes will be entitled to leave and the school/institute will be entitled to relief. Teachers from non-government schools will need to negotiate with their employing authority. Recipients must organise their itineraries to complete their travel by 30 June 2010.
