An Introduction to Google Apps for Education

Educators, across CAFS and PDHPE should review their pedagogy to ensure teaching, learning and assessment are well rounded, thorough and time effective and that their use of technology is purposeful to develop student’s knowledge, understanding and skills.
This one-day practical workshop, presented by ACHPER NSW, is designed to support teachers embedding the G Suite (previously known as Google Apps) into their teaching and learning of both theory and practical content.
Workshop participants will be introduced to the key applications in the suite, see examples of how to best utilise the applications to support a critical inquiry and strengths-based approach, health literacy, and valuing movement; and given time to explore and create.
Google applications explored during the workshop will include:
- Google Drive – the “flash drive in the sky”
- Google Chrome – extensions &apps
- Google Docs – Collaborative processes
- Googles Slides – Use &application
- Google Classroom – 21st Century Learning
All resources from the workshop will be available for participants to access and use in their own school setting.
Completing Embedding Technology in the K-10 Syllabus Workshop on 21 August 2019 will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing standard descriptors from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
