Masterclass #4 2025:
This Masterclass session will explore the research studying the impact of menstruation on skilled performance, including cognitive processes such as self-efficacy, risk-taking (in sport), assertiveness, and learning, in addition to its impact on motor skills. AS PDHPE teachers and coaches, this information will be highly relevant to your work with female athletes and students.
PRESENTER
Dr Kylie Steel, Western Sydney University
Kylie is a trained PE (K-12) and generalist (K-6) teacher, as well as a sport scientist (motor behavior) with 10 years of experience working within the education, sport, and recreation systems in NSW and the ACT. Currently, Kylie works as an academic researcher and sport scientist specializing in cognitive processes (e.g., perception, pattern recognition, decision-making) and athlete performance. Specifically, her recent research explores the potential impact of the menstrual phase on the cognitive processes of elite female sport and occupational athletes.
