SUMMARY:Child Studies
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the course is to increase participant understanding and knowledge of the structure and content of the updated syllabus\, both for teachers’ previously delivering school developed Child Studies courses and those interested in offering the course for the first time. \nThe program of the day will provide participants with opportunities to investigate issues such as: \n\nBackground information about why the Child Studies syllabus was\nUnpacking the syllabus\,\n\nStructure of the syllabus explained\,\nContent of each of the 15 modules\n\n\nExample programs and assessment tasks\nSuggested resources provided.\nCreation of quality units of work and authentic assessment tasks.\n\nWho should attend: Teachers who have previously delivered school developed Child Studies courses and those who are new to teaching the Child Studies course. \nStandards achieved are: \n2.2.2 Organise content into coherent\, well-sequenced learning and teaching programs. \n2.3.2 Design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum\, assessment and reporting requirements. \n3.2.2 Plan and implement well structured learning or teaching programs or lesson sequences that engage students and promote learning. \n5.1.2 Develop\, select and use informal and formal\, diagnostic\, formative and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning \n \n  \nCompleting the Child Studies workshop on 2 March 2020 will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing standard descriptors from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW. \n  \n
