March 23 @ 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm AEDT$30.00
Our Masterclass series explores the latest health and physical education research. We offer 8 Masterclasses each year.
Masterclass 2 2023:
Fitness testing is still a regular feature of many secondary PDHPE programs in NSW. While some students report they enjoy it, others say it makes them feel judged, anxious and embarrassed.
During this Masterclass, Laura will share findings from her research that shows why we need to move away from traditional approaches to fitness testing, and offers alternatives approaches that can foster more positive, safe and educational experiences for students.
Laura will also share a wider examination of the latest research to highlight improved, evidence-based approaches to fitness testing and fitness education in schools.
Dr Laura Alfrey, Senior Lecturer, Monash University
Laura is Course Leader for the Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education) at Monash University. Laura’s research focuses on Health and Physical education (HPE), sport, active recreation and physical activity contexts, and the ways policy, professional learning and practice contribute to inclusive and educative experiences.
