Masterclass: Consent when alcohol, drugs and tech are involved

February 22 @ 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm AEDT

PDHPE Masterclass Consent

Our Masterclass series explores the latest health and physical education research. We offer 8 Masterclasses each year.

Masterclass #1 2024:

Consent education is complex. Learn how to deal with the tricky issues and questions from your students.

Young people may face situations far from black and white. While consent cannot be legally given if a person is under the influence of alcohol and drugs, it is not always as simple as it sounds. Adding to the mix can be the digital world, platforms like Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok, ingrained in young people’s lives.

Join the team from Consent Labs to explore consent when alcohol, drugs and tech are involved. Discuss ideas for tackling the tough topics and questions PDHPE teachers can face.

Annika ClaytonAnnika Clayton, Growth Manager, Consent Labs
Annika became passionate about consent education and the prevention of sexual violence from her time at college in the United States. Witnessing firsthand the impact a lack of education leads to, especially within the college sports setting, ignited her drive to make a difference. She spearheaded the creation of a comprehensive new Sexual Assault Policy and Reporting Process within the Athletic Department at the University of Wyoming.  Annika’s mission at Consent Labs is to raise awareness, empower educators, and ensure as many young people as possible across Australia have the opportunity to access real and relevant consent education.   Annika will be joined by a Facilitator from the Consent Labs Curriculum team
